Hi, I’m Ben.
I’m a maths PhD student at the University of Bath, and I made PhDExchange.
The idea came to me during a difficult time in my field. With AI solving many open problems, I found myself wanting more human connection and collaboration. Being able to have conversations with interesting people about cool topics just seemed really wholesome to me.
I wanted a simple way for researchers to find each other, talk about their research, and learn a bit about something outside their own field. The goal of this website isn’t to be technologically fancy or to make money. It’s just a way to find cool people to have those conversations with.
You don’t need to be a professional teacher, prepare a lecture, or know all the answers. It might be a chance to practise explaining your work, make a new friend, find someone to collaborate with, or just enjoy talking about something interesting.
For full transparency, I made this website with ChatGPT.
This is a small project and a bit of fun. I hope other people enjoy it too.
